Environment plays an important Role in Our Lives.Environment makes us feel Healthier,but sometimes we degrade Our Environment and Creates Pollutions which causes very serious Problems in our life.
Pollution is an introductions to the contaminants into our natural environment which cause dangerous changes.Environment is defined as the unfavourable alteration of our surroundings,wholly as a byproduct of human's activities through indirect or direct efforts of changes in the physical,chemical and biological characteristics of water,air or land that harmfully affect human life.

Major Causes of Environmental Pollution:

  1. Human population Explosion
  2. Rapid Industrialisation
  3. Unplanned Urbanisation
  4. Deforestation
  5. Technological advancement etc.

TYPES OF POLLUTION:

1.AIR POLLUTION:Air pollution occurs from:
  • Gaseous emission from industry
  • Domestic combustion
  • Thermal Powerstations etc
It causes by:
  • Most of the particulate air pollutants are products of burning of fuels.
  • Lead,CO,Nitrogen Oxides are added to atmosphere from Automobiles exhausts.
  • Acid Rains is responsible by Nitrogen oxides and Sulphur dioxides together.
It effects:
  • CO(Carbon Monoxide) is highly toxic in nature and it impairs the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood.
  • The refrigerants which contains chloroflurocarbons causes ozone depletion in Stratosphere.
2.WATER POLLUTION:It adversely changes the quality of the water.It badly disturbs the balance of our ecosystem and hazardous to Living organism.
It causes by:
  • organic,inorganic and biological substances.
  • Hazards mixture of poisonous materials.
  • Uses of Non-degradable plastics.
3.NOISE POLLUTION:It can be defined as unwanted sound.The most acute effect of noise pollution is impairment of hearing,causes of loudness.WHO(World Health Organisation) has fixed 45dB as the safe noise level for a city.

4.SOIL POLLUTION:Soil pollutants includes:
  • Fertilisers,which increase fertility
  • Pesticides,which kills or remove Pests
  • Industrial wastes
  • Mining Wastes
  • Salts
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Metals such as Tin,Iron,Lead,Aluminium,etc
  • Plastics
Pesticides adversely effects the micro-organisms present in the soils and leaches ground water.It also effects human food chains either through plants or water.

5.RADIOACTIVE POLLUTION:Radioactivity is a phenomenon of spontaneous emission of alpha,beta,gamma rays due to desintegrationof atomic nuclei of some radioactive metals.The pollution causes by these radioactive decays is termed as Radioactive pollution.All organisms are affected by radiation pollution and in high doses it may cause death.Long or repeated exposure can causes laukaemia,cancer and induced mutation.
